Witch's Hat Depot serves as a focal point for the historic village. This hat also functions as a museum and meeting place for South Lyon's Historical Society. This once active train station was purchased by the City and moved to McHattie Park in 1976.

McHattie Park is a 15 acre park located in the heart of the City of South Lyon. This park, just off of Lafayette Street, has something for everyone! The list is endless… playground equipment, little league baseball diamonds, sand volley ball courts, sledding hill, ice skating and plenty of open spaces for picnics. This park is also home to the Historic Society of South Lyon’s Witch’s Hat Depot Museum, the Freight House and the Victorian Gazebo. This park is truly a great place to visit, walk the dogs or take the children to play!

The Huron Valley Trail Rail is a 10.5 mile trail that extends from the City of South Lyon into Milford Township and travels along the north side of Lyon Oaks County Park to the Wixom City boundary. The entire trail is paved with both flat and hilly portions. This trail provides direct access to many of the parks in South Lyon and Lyon Township and connections to over 25 miles of adjoining trails. Vehicle parking and access to the trail is available at all these parks as well.

Kensington Metropark has so much to offer! This 4,481 acre park has something to offer everyone from wooded trails, hilly terrain, Kent Lake and an abundance recreation areas. Whatever the season, Kensington Metropark has something to do. There are both golf & disc golf courses, farm center and picnic areas. The 1,200 acres of Kent Lake is perfect for spending the day soaking up the sun on the beach, cruising in a boat or at the "Splash & Blast" water park. What an amazing place to have such a short distance away!
